Purcari Wineries’ sales have declined

In the first half of 2026, Purcari Wineries’ revenue totaled 182.2 million Romanian lei (approximately 700 million Moldovan lei), down 7% from the same period last year. The decline occurred amid weakening demand in Romania and a transition to new distribution models in Central and Eastern Europe.

At the same time, the company managed to improve its operating metrics. EBITDA rose 6% to 52 million RON, and the EBITDA margin increased from 25.1% to 28.5%, the company reported in its report for the first six months of 2026, published on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Net income totaled 15.1 million RON (58 million MDL), down 4% compared to the first six months of 2025.

Sales fell in Romania but rose in Bulgaria

Romania remains the group’s largest market, but sales in that country fell by 9.5%, to 105 million RON. The company attributes this to fiscal consolidation measures and a decline in consumer demand.

In contrast, Bulgaria posted one of the strongest performances: sales rose by 23.6% to 10.3 million Romanian lei. The company attributed this to both increased sales volume and the expansion of distribution and market share.

In Moldova, sales remained virtually stable at 29.4 million RON (113 million MDL), while in Central and Eastern Europe they declined by 14.9% amid a transition to new distribution models.

About the Company

Founded in the Republic of Moldova, Purcari Wineries currently owns more than 2,000 hectares of vineyards and seven production facilities in Romania, Moldova, and Bulgaria. The group owns the Purcari, Crama Ceptura, Bostavan, Bardar, Domeniile Cuza, and Angel’s Estate brands and exports its products to more than 40 countries.

This year, the company expanded its presence in Romania through the acquisition of Serve Ceptura, and in April signed documents to acquire CaraprodVin, which gave it its first operational presence in Vrancea, the country’s main wine-producing region.

Purcari Wineries has been listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange since February 2018 under the ticker symbol WINE, and Maspex Romania currently holds a controlling stake in the company.
