The justice system will be modernised with a budget of 7 million euros

The courts in the Republic of Moldova will benefit from advanced digital services and modernised courtrooms as part of a €7 million project funded by the European Union. The project ‘Strengthening the efficiency and accessibility of the justice system through digital transformation’, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Estonian e-Governance Academy, provides for the development of digital services in courts, increasing the usage rate of the e-Case File Information System, and refurbishing courtrooms in several courts across the country.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the measures aim to improve citizens’ access to justice and enhance the quality of the services provided.

At the meeting on 16 October, the Minister of Justice, Vladislav Cojuhari, stated that, as the Republic of Moldova progresses in the process of accession to the European Union, the focus must shift from committing to reforms to their effective implementation.

“In the coming period, we need to align the potential of external assistance with sectoral priorities and the objectives set out in the process of accession to the European Union. As Minister of Justice, I am committed to making the most of the available resources, consolidating the results achieved so far, and directing our efforts towards those areas where support can bring about the most significant changes. “The Republic of Moldova’s European future depends on strong institutions, effective legislation and a justice system in which people have confidence,” said the Minister of Justice, Vladislav Cojuhari.

Martina Spernbauer, Head of the Governance Team at the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, reaffirmed the EU’s support for continuing reforms and highlighted the need to strengthen the capacities of institutions in the justice sector. She also emphasised the importance of the new policy document for the period 2027–2031, which will set out the priorities for reform and the resources required to implement them.

The project ‘Strengthening the efficiency and accessibility of the justice system through digital transformation’ is being implemented between July 2026 and June 2029.
