Between June 1 and July 23, 2026, inspectors inspected approximately 3,500 commercial and so-called “non-professional” farms, as well as animal collection and export centers. Numerous violations related to animal identification and traceability were identified. The agency imposed more than 40 sanctions for these violations, and 903 animals were placed under official quarantine (with a ban on movement) until their history could be determined.
During inspections of several slaughterhouses, serious non-compliance with current regulations was discovered, leading to the suspension of their operations. A total of 158 undeclared animals were placed under quarantine; subsequently, a decision was made to slaughter them and dispose of the carcasses. ANSA inspectors also seized a shipment of 8 metric tons of sheep and goat meat lacking documentation of the animals’ origin.
The operation is aimed at eliminating the risks of the spread of African swine fever, combating illegal slaughter of animals, and removing from circulation products without a defined origin and clear traceability throughout the entire production and commercial chain.
