Two minor earthquakes hit Romania with no reported damage

Romania was shaken, but without damage

Two earthquakes were recorded in Romania early this morning, a few minutes apart. They were recognized by experts as weak and did not cause any damage.

This is reported by Romanian media with reference to the National Institute for Research and Development in the field of Earth Physics.

The first earthquake was recorded at 06:52 in the seismic zone of Făgăraş-Cimpulung in Arges county. As specified, its magnitude was 2.1 on the Richter scale and its depth was about 5 km. The earthquake affected several towns, including Targoviste, Brasov, Piteşti and Rymnicu-Vilcea.

Just three minutes later, at 06:55, a second earthquake struck in the seismic zone of Vrancea in Buzeu County. It was slightly stronger than the first one. Its magnitude was 2.9 and it was recorded at a depth of more than 140 kilometers. The earthquake in Vrancea affected the nearby towns of Focsani, Buzeu, Brasov and Ploiesti.

Both earthquakes were declared weak and did not cause any damage.
