“Red Book” of Moldova: fourth edition, completed

The new Red Data Book of RM, alas, will become thicker: 45 endangered plant species will be included in its IV edition. But not all is bad - 15 plant species will be excluded from the new edition of the book due to the improvement of their conservation status.

Updating the Red Data Book of the Republic of Moldova was one of the main topics discussed at the seminar of forestry and ecology specialists. The seminar took place within the framework of the official presentation of the 7th National Report of the Republic of Moldova under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

The experts’ discussion focused on the role of nurseries in the restoration of forest flora. The importance of mixed plantations and ecological corridors for connecting nature reserves was emphasized. Also discussed were the main ecosystem risks – forest fragmentation and forest fires.
