Former Syngenta Executive to Become Director at ADM

The American agribusiness company Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM) has announced the appointment of Jeff Rowe, former CEO of Syngenta Group, as Chief Operating Officer. He will assume his duties on August 17 and will oversee the company’s commercial operations, manufacturing, and research and development.

ADM notes that the expansion of its leadership team comes amid expectations of an improvement in the U.S. agricultural sector. The company is counting on clearer biofuel policies and a resumption of active soybean trade between the U.S. and China, although the market continues to be affected by the conflict in the Middle East, which is complicating access to fuel and fertilizers.

In recent years, ADM has gone through a difficult period due to an investigation into its accounting practices. In early 2026, the company settled claims brought by the U.S. Department of Justice without admitting guilt, after which it focused on strengthening its management team and restoring investor confidence, according to Bloomberg.

Rowe has led the Syngenta Group since January 2024. The move to ADM marks his return to the U.S., where he also helps manage his family’s farm in Illinois. At Syngenta, Hengde Qin, the current chief operating officer and head of the seed division, will become the new CEO effective August 1, as previously reported by Logos Press.

For Syngenta, Jeff Rowe’s departure comes as the company prepares for an initial public offering (IPO) in Hong Kong valued at approximately $5 billion, which was postponed due to challenging conditions in the global agricultural market.
