According to an EU source, the results of the screening for Clusters 2 and 3 for both countries have once again been included on the COELA agenda. The Irish Presidency and the member states will make another attempt to persuade the Hungarian representative to support the decision to approve the screening results and to send letters requesting that both countries submit their negotiating positions on the relevant clusters.
The sending of these letters marks the formal start of the procedure for opening the clusters.
Ireland, which holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU, aims to begin preparations for opening the next clusters for Moldova and Ukraine before the summer recess, with a view to scheduling an intergovernmental conference as early as September.
