According to a decision by Russian Railways, grain from 17 regions may be transported at preferential rates to port-side stations in the aforementioned regions of the Russian Federation. The costs will be covered by the federal budget. Specific preferential routes are provided for the Rostov Region, from which grain, sunflower meal, and sunflower cake can be transported to ports in the Krasnodar Territory and the Northwest of the Russian Federation. Grain from five regions of Siberia will be shipped at a preferential rate to ports in the Far East. Russia is attempting to export part of its cargo via the Baltic Sea and other routes.
However, the throughput capacity of these alternative routes is significantly lower than that of the traditional southern route. Therefore, alternative logistics can compensate for only a portion of the volume in the event of prolonged disruptions at Black Sea ports, according to ukragroconsult.
Russian authorities have stated that measures have already been identified to ensure the timely shipment of grain intended for export, which is estimated at 60 million metric tons.
