The new rules are specifically designed for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used in “specific” operations involving a higher level of risk, such as flights in urban areas, over crowds, or near critical infrastructure. In such situations, a malfunction or technical problem could pose a danger to people and surrounding infrastructure; therefore, the aircraft must be inspected and maintained under appropriate safety conditions.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Moldova (AAC) will issue permits and oversee organizations and personnel in this field, as well as ensure compliance with safety requirements.
The new regulations will help improve the safety of unmanned aircraft operations and protect people and strategic infrastructure. For commercial operators in sectors such as agriculture, energy, courier services, or surveying, the rules provide clear guidelines that are compatible with European standards.
The new regulations are also likely to affect civilians who operate drones for both recreational and professional purposes (such as videographers).
