This was stated by Grigore Stratulat, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment. According to him, the new infrastructure is necessary to address the problem of landfills that do not meet modern standards, including the landfill in Sherpen, which is currently located very close to homes and water sources. “First, we will build modern infrastructure that meets all requirements, and then we will close and remediate all existing landfills,” Agroexpert quotes the State Secretary as saying.
Grigore Stratulat emphasized that infrastructure development is crucial for proper waste management, given that existing landfills do not offer sustainable solutions for waste collection and processing. In this context, he called for support for the “Solid Waste of the Republic of Moldova” project, which provides for the development of the necessary infrastructure for waste management.
