Access will be facilitated following a technical agreement signed between the National Archives Agency of the Republic of Moldova (ANA) and the Romanian National Military Archives (AMNR), which provides for the free exchange of copies of documents of interest to both institutions.

The Moldovan side is particularly interested in the registers of Bessarabian reservists in the Romanian Army from the period 1918–1944. These documents may provide information about the ancestors of families in the Republic of Moldova and their service in the army.

The registers may be consulted on request, provided that a sworn statement is signed confirming compliance with personal data protection requirements.

For its part, the Romanian side will be able to obtain copies of certain documents held in the recruitment records in Bălți, Cahul, Hotin, Lăpușna, Orhei, Soroca and Tighina, as well as in the archives of several Romanian army corps, for the period 1918–1944.

The exchange of copies of documents will take place annually, in accordance with a schedule to be agreed by the two institutions, with no fees payable between them.

The agreement was signed by the director of the National Archives Agency, Igor Cașu, and the director of the Romanian National Military Archives, Gheorghe-Stelian Zamfira.
