More brands at PORT MALL. Moldova’s largest shopping centre is expanding its floor space

After three years of continuous growth and success, PORT MALL is expanding. Moldova’s largest shopping centre is set to add a further 13,000 square metres of lettable space. Businessman Anatolie Golea made the official announcement at the three-year anniversary gala, in front of trusted partners, bankers and leading figures from the retail sector.

The decision to expand was backed up by figures and performance indicators. Just three years after the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the shopping centre is operating at full capacity, and the high demand for retail space has accelerated the opening of the new development.

“The PORT MALL community has long since ceased to mean just ‘the city of Chișinău’, but rather people from across the Republic of Moldova. We have seen a 40 per cent increase in footfall compared with our first year of operation and a 64 per cent rise in sales at Port Mall. Every square metre adds value. We no longer have any vacant spaces, and demand from brands wishing to join us continues to grow,” said Anatolie Golea to industry leaders.

Construction work is already visible on the right-hand wing of the building, with the new area due to open in 2027.

The expanded space will bring in more national and international brands. The plans include a larger food court, a gym, new relaxation areas, as well as a conference and events centre. In addition, customers will enjoy another panoramic terrace that will showcase the local views.

The plans do not stop there. Two further phases of expansion are planned, to be launched depending on demand for retail space and market trends. The ultimate goal is a retail complex with 100,000 square metres of lettable space, four office buildings and a multi-storey car park capable of accommodating 2,000 cars. The expansion will provide a scale that will reinforce PORT MALL’s position as an urban landmark.

Currently, the largest shopping centre in the Republic of Moldova is home to over 100 national and international brands, spread across 30,000 square metres of lettable space. At PORT MALL, visitors will find exclusive attractions – such as the largest outdoor go-karting track, the first 10D cinema and the latest VR technology.

Port Mall officially opened its doors to visitors on 21 October 2023.
