The United States spends the most on military expenditures in the world – $954 billion. This is 33.06% of all defense spending on the planet. China is in second place – $336 billion (11.62%). In third place is Russia – $190 billion (6.6%). In fourth place is Germany – $114 billion (3.93%). In fifth place is India – $92 billion (3.19%).
But this row should be continued as the UK is in sixth position with $89 billion (3.08%) and Ukraine is in seventh with $84 billion (2.91%). Rounding out the top dozen are Saudi Arabia, France, Japan, Israel and Italy.
South Korea, Poland and Spain are next.
“The concentration of European countries at the top of the list reflects the continent’s continued commitment to strengthening military preparedness in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,” military analysts commented on the list.
Romania is in 33rd place with $9.7 billion.
Gambia spends the least on defense – only $15 million, it is in 148th place.
