The Baltic States are strengthening military cooperation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Tallinn (Estonia) with the leaders of the “North Baltic Eight” (NB8) countries.

The group includes Denmark, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Estonia.

During a bilateral meeting, the Ukrainian president and Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs signed an agreement on drones.

“We are talking about specific measures to strengthen joint defense and production, as well as the exchange of experience and knowledge,” the Delfi.lt portal quotes Zelenskyy as saying.

He reported that he discussed with the Latvian prime minister the needs of Ukraine’s air defense and the strengthening of sanctions against Russia.

Estonian President Alar Karis and Prime Minister Kristen Michal signed a joint declaration with Ukraine on strengthening defense cooperation. Kyiv and Tallinn, in particular, are working on a drone deal.

In addition, Norway announced that it will allocate 1.2 billion Norwegian kroner (nearly 110 million euros) for maritime drones for Ukraine, Reuters reports.

Since the start of the war, the countries of the “Nordic-Baltic Eight” have provided Ukraine with €42 billion in aid.
