During the meeting with Timo Pesonen, Director General of DG DEFIS (Directorate General for Defense Industry and Space), the issues of cooperation in the field of dual-use goods and participation in joint industrial projects with European partners were discussed.
According to the ministry’s press release, “the European side praised Moldova’s progress in harmonizing the legal framework related to export controls and stressed the prospects for gradual integration into the European industrial ecosystems.
Trade and Economic Track
The visit agenda included a series of high-level meetings with European Commission officials to identify priorities for the EU-Moldova Investment Conference to be held in Chisinau on June 4, 2026, as well as to analyze the implementation of the Growth Plan for Moldova and the National Program of Economic Reforms for 2026-2028.
During the dialogue with DG ENEST (General Directorate for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations) Director General Gert-Jan Koopman and Director Mathieu Bousquet, they highlighted the results achieved by the country in the digitalization of public services, debureaucratization of the business environment and launching technical negotiations on all six accession clusters. They also discussed the possibility of preliminarily finalizing negotiations on the chapters on information society and business policy.
Trade relations and integration into the European single market were discussed with Deputy Director General of DG TRADE (Directorate General for Trade) Leon Delvaux. Deputy Prime Minister Osmokescu requested tariff quotas adapted to the capacities of the national steel industry.
Discussions with Director of DG GROW (Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs) Auti Slotboom focused on access to the Single Market Programme and the preparation of the ACAA (Agreement on Conformity and Acceptability Assessment of Industrial Goods) to facilitate access of Moldovan industrial products to the European market.
