residents of Mauritius
According to the published regulations, citizens of countries that meet the established criteria may enter and stay in Moldova for a specified period without obtaining a visa in advance.
There are only two African countries on this list: the Republic of Mauritius and the Republic of the Seychelles, notes the Nigerian website legit.ng.
These are island nations in the Indian Ocean that have historically maintained strong diplomatic and tourism ties with a wide range of countries around the world. Mauritius and the Seychelles regularly appear on international lists of countries with visa-free entry, partly due to their stable governance and relatively small populations.
Thus, holders of ordinary passports from either of these two island nations can enter Moldova without first visiting a Moldovan embassy or consulate.
What does this mean for other African travelers?
The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also published a separate list of countries whose citizens are not eligible for visa-free entry. This means that travelers from the vast majority of African countries—including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Egypt—must apply for a visa before traveling to Moldova.
African travelers from countries not included on the list must follow the standard visa application procedure through Moldovan diplomatic missions prior to their planned visit to the country.
