According to Ziarul Financiar, the first Arket store may open at the Promenada shopping center in Bucharest. However, neither the H&M Group nor the complex’s owner, NEPI Rockcastle, has confirmed this information yet.
If these plans come to fruition, it will be Arket’s first brick-and-mortar store in Romania. Currently, the brand is available to Romanian shoppers only through the H&M Group’s online store. Online sales for Arket, as well as for COS, Weekday, Monki, and & Other Stories, were launched in the country back in 2020 as part of the group’s digital business expansion.
The arrival of Arket will mark a new phase in the H&M Group’s development in the Romanian market after several years during which the company has made virtually no expansion of its physical store network. Today, the Swedish retailer is already represented in the country by the H&M brand, as well as the premium brand COS, which operates in Bucharest.
Arket was launched by the H&M Group in 2017 as a brand with a higher price point compared to the classic H&M. The product range includes clothing, footwear, home goods, and accessories in a Scandinavian style, and the brand’s concept is built around minimalist design, natural materials, and a basic wardrobe. The first Arket stores opened in London, Copenhagen, Brussels, and Munich.
