A new CEO has been appointed for the Syngenta Group

The Board of Directors of the Swiss Syngenta Group, one of the world’s largest players in the crop protection and seed markets, has unanimously appointed Hende Qin as its new CEO. He will take office on August 1, 2026, succeeding Jeff Rowe, who will return to the United States after nearly 10 years with the company.

Hende Qin

Hende Qin currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and Head of the Seed Business. His appointment was the result of a selection and succession planning process.

This is stated in a press release on the company’s website.

The new CEO will be based in Basel, Switzerland, where he has been working since January 2023. Qin has been a member of the Syngenta Group’s executive team since 2020. During this time, he has served as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer, and President of Syngenta Group China, and has also become a member of the company’s Board of Directors. Under his leadership, Syngenta’s Chinese business has significantly increased its profitability and has become one of the group’s most successful divisions.

Before joining Syngenta, Qin led two publicly traded companies in mainland China and Hong Kong. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and management, a master’s degree in industrial engineering, and an MBA.
