“This is direct support for farmers who have suffered significant losses. Beyond the numbers, this project is about people. In recent years, more and more young people and families have returned home and invested in agriculture. Unfortunately, many started this activity during extremely difficult agricultural years. This support is a clear signal that the state does not leave them alone in the face of the climate crisis and that their labor, their courage matters,” said Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Katlabuga.

Compensations are available to farmers:

  • incurred losses on maize and/or sunflower crops, the degree of damage of which is at least 50%;
  • the assessment must be confirmed by “acts of ascertainment”. which is confirmed by assessment certificates, will be able to receive compensation.

Financial support will be provided as a direct payment “per hectare” through the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA). Applications for financial assistance can be submitted to the territorial subdivisions of AIPA within 20 working days from the date of entry into force of the regulation (from the date of its publication in the Official Monitor of RM).

According to MAIA data, as of October 23, 2025, 792 “acts of declaration” of damage were registered on the mentioned crops with a total area of more than 56 thousand hectares.
