Abu Dhabi’s press office said authorities responded to a fire at a power generator located outside the facility’s inner perimeter. “No injuries have been reported and radiation safety has not been affected,” the statement said, adding that all necessary precautions have been taken. The Federal Office of Nuclear Regulation confirmed that the fire did not jeopardize the safety of the plant or its major systems, noting that all units remain fully operational, yenisafak.com reported.
Tensions in the Persian Gulf persist
Regional tensions escalated after the U.S. and Israel launched military strikes against Iran in February, prompting Tehran to retaliate against U.S. allies in the Persian Gulf, including the United Arab Emirates. As a result of the conflict, Iran closed the strategically important Strait of Hormuz – a key point for global oil supplies – and began shelling targets across the region.
The truce went into effect on April 8 after mediation by Pakistan, although subsequent talks in Islamabad failed to produce a long-term agreement. According to regional diplomatic sources, US President Donald Trump later extended the truce indefinitely.
