“Today we also discussed issues of resilience, countering disinformation and hybrid threats, as well as the need to resist pressure from Russia. Among these, the violation of our airspace by Russian drones poses a constant challenge for our authorities, and we will deepen our cooperation in this area,” said Nicușor Dan.
Dan and Sandu also discussed energy security and projects to interconnect energy systems. According to the Romanian president, there is a “strong shared commitment” to continuing efforts in this direction.
Nicușor Dan also welcomed the Republic of Moldova’s progress toward European integration and reaffirmed Romania’s support for this process.
“Reforms must continue at an accelerated pace at all levels, and Romania will remain by Moldova’s side, providing technical expertise and diplomatic support so that the process of European integration moves forward more quickly,” said the Romanian president.
The consultations took place in the context of the Republic of Moldova’s Independence Day. Nicușor Dan congratulated Maia Sandu and the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and wished them peace, prosperity, and security within the European family.
