‘This re-election is an opportunity to make a further contribution to the international dialogue on energy security and the transition to sustainable energy systems. Cooperation between states and the exchange of experience are vital for addressing common challenges in this sector. Through the expert groups on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, we share the Republic of Moldova’s experience and, in turn, learn from the experience of other countries. Moldova remains committed to actively participating in these efforts and utilising international expertise to modernise the national energy sector,” said Carolina Novac.

As Vice-President, Carolina Novac contributes to coordinating the work of the Committee and its expert groups, which support member states in developing safe, affordable and sustainable energy systems. At the same time, she is a member of two such expert groups: on energy efficiency and on renewable energy sources, where she shares Moldova’s experience and studies the practices of other countries. She was first elected Vice-Chair in September 2024.

The Republic of Moldova cooperates with the UNECE on projects relating to energy efficiency in buildings, the integration of renewable energy sources and the digitalisation of the energy sector. One example is the technical support requested to assess scenarios for connecting public buildings to the district heating system and to develop a roadmap in this regard. This cooperation enables Moldova to draw on international expertise and strengthen its institutional capacity in line with its European integration objectives.
