The campaign ran from 13 October to 1 November 2026, during which time 8,120 vouchers were distributed. The face value of each voucher was 7,000 lei and covered up to 70 per cent of the cost of the appliances, including VAT. Any unused funds from this campaign will be allocated to the distribution of vouchers in the next campaign.
During the scheme, 2,367 fridges were purchased, including models with built-in freezers in energy classes A, B, C and D, and 3,081 washing machines in energy class A. For every new appliance purchased, recipients handed over a second-hand appliance of the same type for recycling.
“The EcoVoucher programme is yet another mechanism through which the government supports vulnerable families in reducing their electricity bills. The programme gives them the opportunity to replace old household appliances with energy-efficient ones, so this support translates into reduced consumption and savings that last over the long term,” said Ion Muntean, director of the National Centre for Sustainable Energy (CNED).
