The projects will contribute to sustainable local development, the improvement of public spaces, the development of urban mobility and the strengthening of local authorities’ capacity.

The decisions were taken at the meeting of the URBACT IV Monitoring Committee, held on 28 October 2026 in Dublin (Ireland). Moldova was represented by the State Chancellery in its capacity as the National Authority for Interreg programmes.

During the meeting, 25 Action Networks at European level were approved, four of which include partners from Moldova. Furthermore, as part of the URBACT Accelerator for Ukraine and Moldova, Călărași, Nisporeni, Ștefan Voda, Cahul and Bubuieci were selected to receive support in developing solutions to improve pedestrian safety, develop public transport and engage young people in community life.

Of the total budget, €388,160 is earmarked for participation in Action Networks, whilst €120,000 is allocated to three projects under the URBACT Accelerator. The two other selected localities will receive expert support and will be able to participate in the exchange of experience.

In addition, the results of the URBACT IV programme were reviewed in Dublin, along with the priorities for the future URBACT V programme, with a focus on simplifying procedures and continuing European support for urban development.
