The plot will be formed by setting it aside from agricultural land. This initiative is part of the strategy to modernize the National Army and aligns with the goals of the National Development Plan for 2026–2028, as well as the Long-Term Military Capabilities Development Plan (“Strength-2035”), approved by presidential decree.
“This involves barracks for soldiers and improving the quality of military service. As I understand it, these changes are a continuation of the ideas of the previous parliament—the focus is on expansion. There is a presidential decree approving the military strategy, and this proposal was put forward to achieve those goals. In addition, the land is being reclassified as a special-purpose plot and will be transferred to the National Army for development and utilization,” said MP Alexander Trubka.
At the same time, the document provides for the removal of another agricultural plot, measuring 0.8754 hectares, from state public ownership and its transfer to the public ownership of the Krikov City Hall. This measure is necessary to expand the local cemetery.
There are currently two cemeteries in Krikov: the Old Cemetery, located in the city center and surrounded by private property, and the New Cemetery—on the outskirts, which is already nearly full. Due to these constraints, the expansion of funeral infrastructure has been blocked. The designated plot is located in the immediate vicinity of the New Cemetery, and its transfer to local authorities will help resolve the acute problem of a shortage of burial plots in the city.
