
The approved documentation concerns, in particular, the third sector of the bypass road – a strategic 8.5 km long section that will connect the bridge area in Pruncul district with the traffic interchange near Cricova. The project of this segment, which runs near the settlements of Guidigić, Gratiesti and Staucieni, has already passed the stage of public consultations. The discussions included a detailed analysis of the connection schemes to the existing network, measures to improve traffic safety and the impact of the construction on the adjacent land plots.
The main goal of the large-scale project is to redirect transit traffic to bypass the city, which will significantly reduce congestion at the entrances to the capital. Implementation of modern technical solutions is aimed at creating reliable and fast transportation corridors linking major national and international highways.
Also, the participants in the meeting reviewed a report on a preliminary feasibility study on the construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau-Odessa highway. This initiative is a key element of the strategy of Moldova’s integration into the European transport network, which will give a significant impetus to the region’s economic development.
We shall remind you that last week, the parliament ratified an agreement allowing Moldova to attract additional financial means from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to rehabilitate the road infrastructure. Thus, the total amount of the loan within the “Project V for the rehabilitation of Moldova’s roads” will be doubled, reaching 300 million euros. The draft law was backed by both ruling and opposition MPs in both readings.
