The government has announced projects worth about 200 million euros. These funds will be used to modernize public institutions.

UCIPE (the energy project implementation and monitoring unit) currently manages three large externally financed energy efficiency projects.

UCIPE Director Ruslan Surugiu believes that these investments will create new advantages and opportunities for the business environment, which will have a positive impact on the economic development of the country.

“We are talking about hospitals, schools and educational centers. The business environment in Moldova has a lot of work to do in the coming years,” he said.

In an interview with a radio station, Ruslan Surugiu explained that the authorities are preparing numerous projects that will soon be put up for auction. In particular, it is planned to improve the energy efficiency of more than 200 objects in the next two years.

According to him, the state wants Moldovan enterprises to be the main beneficiaries of these contracts.

“This means that we directly contribute to Moldova’s economic development by developing a new sector,” the UCIPE director said.

He noted that investments in energy efficiency not only reduce public expenditures, but also stimulate the economy, creating new opportunities for the construction sector and related services.

Ruslan Surugiu believes that the real economic effect of the planned investments may exceed the cost of the already realized projects.

“The investments we are talking about, worth 200 million euros, should indirectly bring another 200 million euros to Moldova,” he emphasized.
