The Customs Service reports that inspections were conducted between August 3 and 21, 2026. During these inspections, additional customs liabilities and penalties totaling 81.62 million lei were identified and calculated. The funds will be transferred to the state budget.
As specified in the Customs Service’s statement, as part of these inspections, customs officials identified the following types of violations of customs legislation:
– unjustified application of preferential tariff treatment;
– incorrect tariff classification of imported goods resulting in the application of reduced customs duty rates.
In this regard, the Customs Service once again calls on individuals and legal entities to act responsibly and vigilantly, strictly complying with the provisions of tax and customs legislation.
The Customs Service reminds that if a business entity notifies the Customs Service of an error in the information provided in customs documents before such errors are detected by inspectors, it may be exempted from financial liability provided it voluntarily and fully pays the import duties and fines owed by the date the sanction is imposed.
