Industrial hemp production is popularized in Moldova

Moldovan authorities and international development partners are promoting the expansion of the list of crops produced in our country. The MAIA Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry invites farmers interested in growing industrial hemp to a series of regional seminars. Leopold Svatý, a representative of Svatý Sedláček, s.r.o., will be a guest expert. (Czech Republic).

The seminars will take place on May 15-28 in Chisinau, Balti, Stefan Voda. The seminars are free of charge, but registration is required.

These seminars are part of the activities of the project “Sustainable Agrifood Systems – Production”, funded by the European Union and the Czech Republic and implemented by the Czech Development Agency within the framework of the Team Europe initiative “Sustainable Agrifood Systems” in cooperation with the PL Solidarity Fund in Moldova and the Latvian Agricultural Advisory and Training Center.

Workshop participants will discuss technologies for growing, harvesting and processing industrial hemp – from soil preparation and variety selection to value-added products, including oils and extracts.

According to the Association of Industrial Hemp Producers, about 600 hectares are expected to be cultivated in Moldova this season.
