The country’s refusal is reported by Tasnim News Agency.
The sources note that despite US media statements about the possibility of holding the talks over the weekend (Saturday or Sunday), Iran still seriously doubts Washington’s good faith and its willingness to give up excessive demands. Because of the US violation of its commitments at the beginning of the talks, a potential next round of negotiations is unlikely to yield results.
“Through Pakistani mediators, Iran has conveyed that the United States must first fulfill its commitments and second, abandon its habitual excessive demands in the talks. Without fulfilling the necessary preconditions and reaching a proper contractual and legal framework, such negotiations will be unproductive,” Tasnim noted.
For his part, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf rejected US President Donald Trump’s recent statements on talks with Iran, calling all seven of his claims false. Qalibaf, who led the Iranian negotiating team in the recent Pakistan-mediated talks in Islamabad, wrote that under the ongoing blockade, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open, passage through it will be on a set route and with Iran’s permission. These issues will be resolved on the ground and not on social media, he emphasized.
