The agreement is a strategic document. It defines the main directions of cooperation for 2026-2027. Among them, besides digitalization, are the development of primary health care, modernization of medical infrastructure, increasing access to medicines, strengthening human resources, development of mental health services, improving emergency preparedness, as well as bringing national standards in line with the requirements of the European Union.
Hans Kluge reiterated the organization’s willingness to continue providing technical and expert support to Moldova in the implementation of reforms aimed at modernizing and improving the efficiency of the healthcare system.
Within the visit, the Moldovan delegation held working meetings with representatives of the WHO’s specialized departments. The discussions were attended by Natasha Azzopardi Muscat, Director for Health Systems, Gundo Weiler, Director for Prevention and Health Promotion, Igor Perehinets, Director for Health Security, as well as Miljana Grbic, WHO representative in Moldova, and Oksana Domenti, WHO representative to the EU.
According to the press service of the Health Ministry, the visit contributes to strengthening cooperation between the Health Ministry and the WHO Regional Office for Europe in order to promote the reforms needed to modernize the health system.
