NGOs can receive grants of up to 750,000 lei for tourism development

On June 19, the National Tourism Office announced the launch of a new phase of grant funding for projects under the National “Sustainable Tourism” Program. The program is funded from the state budget as part of the Growth Plan for Moldova for 2025–2027 and is aimed at developing tourism.

The program supports initiatives aimed at developing tourism products, promoting tourist destinations, and digitizing services in the tourism industry.

As noted in the funding terms, public associations, foundations, and local action groups registered in Moldova and operating in the tourism sector are eligible to apply for funding.

One of the mandatory requirements is having implemented at least four tourism projects or programs over the past three years. For new organizations, this experience may be demonstrated by the qualifications of the project team.

The Tourism Office notes that the grant amount depends on the number of funding areas selected. Projects in a single area can receive up to 300,000 lei in support; those in two areas, up to 500,000 lei; and those in three areas, up to 750,000 lei in grant funding.

Grant recipients’ own contribution must amount to at least 20% of the total project cost.

Supported initiatives include the development of rural, ecological, wine, gastronomic, and cultural tourism; the creation of tourism infrastructure; the digitization of services; and the development of modern promotional tools and marketing campaigns.
