According to the National Association of Beekeepers of Moldova ANARM, some large exporters in the second half of this month raised purchase prices for polyfleur (flower honey, mainly from sunflower) from 34-36 lei/kg to 40 lei/kg.
From the traders’ point of view, this was a forced step, provoked by a very weak supply of honey from the current year’s harvest on the part of most Moldovan beekeepers. At the same time, according to exporters, with the average wholesale price for honey supplied from Moldova to the European Union at 2.6 euros/kg, and high costs for processing and transportation logistics, traders earn almost nothing.
In turn, beekeepers believe that due to the large shortage of honey due to the drought and high costs for the maintenance (feeding) of bee families, the current purchase prices for honey are “significantly lower than expected”. As a result of the imbalance between supply and demand, the honey market was relatively inactive in the second half of summer and early fall.
Operators of the Moldovan honey market believe that the situation will change after the corporate information space will receive the judgments of the participants of the main world forum of honey producers and traders – Apimondia (Denmark, Copenhagen, September 23-27).
Earlier Logos Press reported that the leadership of the National Association of Beekeepers of Moldova ANARM estimates the resource of commercial honey harvest-2025 in the range of 2-2.5 thousand tons, ie half less than the average annual level. Meanwhile, according to the customs service of the Republic of Moldova, for the period from January to July 2025, the country exported almost 2.5 thousand tons of honey in the amount of $6.43 million. It was mainly products from honey harvests of previous years. In 2024, Moldovan honey exports amounted to 4.2 thousand tons, including 3.7 thousand tons of this product on the EU market.
