The new facility will be repurposed to develop and diversify specialized and comprehensive social services for people with disabilities.
Today, Vocational School No. 11 in the capital trains young people with special educational needs in the following fields: the textile industry (clothing, footwear, and leather goods), crafts, care for the elderly and adults with disabilities, electronics, and automation.
“The day center will accommodate about 70 students,” noted Dan Perchun, Minister of Education and Research, while presenting the project. “This will provide a solution for families with children who need socialization and care after completing 9th grade. Thanks to this, their parents will be able to continue their professional careers.”
As Logos Press previously reported, all 117 students currently enrolled at the school (78 of whom have special educational needs) will be able to complete their studies and receive their diplomas there by the end of June 2027.
“Starting with the next admissions cycles, regional psycho-pedagogical support services will be required to provide career guidance and place applicants with special needs in other vocational and technical education institutions in Chisinau and Balti.”
