Moldova universities admit 5.2% more students in 2026

The number of students admitted to universities has increased

After the first two rounds of the 2026 admissions campaign, more than 22,200 students have been admitted to Moldovan universities—an increase of 1,150 students, or 5.2 percent, compared to the same period in 2025. The third round of admissions will take place from September 1 to 30.

A total of 16,900 students (+999) were admitted to bachelor’s and integrated degree programs, and nearly 5,300 (+149) to master’s programs.

A total of 4,500 students were enrolled in bachelor’s and integrated programs and nearly 2,500 in master’s programs through state funding. The fulfillment rate for state-funded quotas stands at approximately 84% and 89%, respectively.

The largest increase in the number of students enrolled in bachelor’s and integrated programs was recorded at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova—2,200 students (+493), the Technical University of Moldova—3,900 (+361), the State University of Moldova—4,400 (+221), N. Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy—1,300 (+119), and I. Cranga State Pedagogical University—1,100 (+168).

The third round of admissions will take place from September 1 to 30. State-funded spots remain available, particularly in the fields of education, agricultural, physical, and chemical sciences, environmental sciences, mathematics and statistics, forestry, as well as in certain engineering and information and communication technology programs.

In 2025, as part of the “Higher Education in Moldova” project supported by the World Bank, 52 laboratories and research centers, as well as approximately 50 classrooms and multipurpose spaces, were renovated and equipped. In addition, the curricula for 34 bachelor’s programs and 43 master’s programs were updated.
