Specifically, the list of medical conditions and the criteria for determining fitness for service will be revised and brought into line with national clinical protocols, the International Classification of Diseases, and current medical standards. According to the authorities, some of the current provisions are overly strict, and certain diagnoses and formulations no longer correspond to modern medical terminology.

The draft also provides for separate medical criteria for candidates for special operations units to ensure that selection is conducted according to clear and uniform rules.

In addition, there are plans to shorten the duration of military medical examinations and simplify certain procedures for candidates for contract military service. This is expected to increase the number of individuals who meet the requirements for service and reduce the shortage of military personnel.

The changes are being proposed ahead of the next conscription campaign, which will take place from October through December 2026. The draft is on the agenda for a government meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 26.
