New trends in digitalization and the use of artificial intelligence in retail have also been incorporated into the document. It was developed by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization. It will replace the “523003 Sales Floor Cashier” standard.
In addition, the standard describes in detail the entire work cycle of a cashier—from preparing the workstation and serving customers to processing payments, handling cash, and closing the cash register.
The document also takes into account current developments in the retail sector—such as the ability to handle electronic payment methods and restrictions on the use of cash. Specifically, the list of duties includes collecting payment for goods and services in cash or via electronic payment methods, applying discounts, issuing receipts, adhering to cash limits, completing financial and accounting documents, and more.
The cashier must also ensure the safety of cash on hand during their shift, verify the authenticity of banknotes and other payment instruments, prepare daily cash collection reports, and summarize information on all transactions carried out during the shift.
