According to Energy Minister Dorin Jungietu, this could occur between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Authorities are forecasting an electricity shortage of 130 MWh. The relevant agencies have done everything possible to procure electricity, and emergency power supply mechanisms managed by Moldelectrica will also be utilized. However, if the required amount of energy cannot be found on the market, there is a risk of power outages, Dorin Junghiu warned. He urged citizens to use energy wisely and conserve it wherever possible.

The Minister of Energy explained that this situation has arisen because heat waves are leading to high energy consumption, while production has decreased, partly due to low water levels in the Danube. This is limiting the operation of some power plants.

“Moldova is part of the regional market and imports energy, so we are directly feeling these difficulties,” Jungietu noted.

The minister urged citizens to use energy wisely, emphasizing that if every household reduces its consumption between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., the cumulative effect could be significant.
