Lorina Băltănu, Moldova’s ambassador to France, a writer, and a graduate of the Maxim Gorky Literary Institute, has appealed to business leaders, entrepreneurs, and supporters of the country to help fund this symbolic initiative.
The event, titled “MOLDOVA-35 IN PARIS,” will be organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in France on August 27 at the Champ de Mars, near the Eiffel Tower.
French officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of European and international institutions, the Moldovan community in France, and guests from the Republic of Moldova are expected to attend.
The event venue will cover approximately 4,000 square meters and will be decorated with 35 traditional Moldovan rugs, symbolizing the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence and showcasing its cultural heritage.
The highlight of the evening is expected to be the illumination of the Eiffel Tower in the blue, yellow, and red colors of Moldova’s national flag.
According to Ambassador Băltănu, Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already covered the costs of organizing the event, including infrastructure, security, and logistics. However, the 50,000 euros needed to illuminate the Eiffel Tower have not yet been fully raised.
The City of Paris has expressed its willingness to cover half of the amount, so another 25,000 euros still needs to be raised.
The ambassador announced that she would personally contribute 3,000 euros and called on others to support this initiative. She emphasized that all funds raised will be used exclusively to finance the illumination of the Eiffel Tower and will be managed with complete transparency.
