During this period, engineers from the “Codru” Engineering Battalion conducted an operation in the village of Sherpen in the Anenii-Noi district after a local resident discovered several pieces of ordnance during construction work. Following a field survey, the demining team identified 502 7.92-mm caliber cartridges dating back to World War II.

Another important demining operation was carried out by a team from the engineering battalion in the village of Copanca, Căușeni District, where local residents discovered a “Geran-2” drone approximately 30 meters from a residential building, which had fallen onto Moldovan territory as a result of Russia’s massive strike on Ukraine on the night of July 13.

Military sappers determined that the object weighed 40 kilograms and contained an explosive charge with fragmentation and incendiary effects. Thanks to the prompt and professional intervention of military bomb disposal experts and representatives of other law enforcement agencies, the danger to the population was eliminated under conditions of maximum safety.

Since the beginning of the year, the National Army’s bomb disposal units have conducted 76 demining operations, resulting in the destruction of 194 explosive devices of various types and 1,325 rounds of ammunition.

The Ministry of Defense reminds citizens that any ammunition or explosive devices found must not be touched, moved, or transported. In such situations, people are strongly advised to call 112.
