
Aneta Gonca
Since December 2021, Aneta Gonca has served as vice chair of the STR. She holds a Ph.D. in political science and a master’s degree in journalism and communication studies. She graduated from the Faculty of International Relations at the Moldovan Institute of International Relations in 2004, received her master’s degree from the State University of Moldova in 2005, and defended her doctoral dissertation in political science in 2009.
Throughout her professional career, Gonța has combined academic work with a career in the media. She taught at the State University of Moldova and served as associate dean of the Faculty of Journalism. Over the years, Aneta Gonța has collaborated with the Independent Press Association, the Center for Independent Journalism, the Soros Foundation’s media program in Moldova, Agora Francophone, and the Deutsche Welle Akademie.
Since 2022, Aneta Gonța has been a member of the Council of Europe’s Steering Committee on Media and the Information Society (CDMSI). Since March 2026, she has also chaired the Council of Europe’s Committee of Experts on the Protection of Media Pluralism in the Digital Age (MSI-ePLU).
It should be noted that Liliana Vitu announced her resignation as chair of the STR on August 3. She did not disclose the reasons for her decision, stating only that it was related to upcoming changes in her professional life.
