Experts from the Department of Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring note that, due to a lack of precipitation and high atmospheric temperatures, the risk of wildfires persists across most of the country, especially in its northern and southern regions. The risk of fires on farmland is also high due to the active use of agricultural machinery during the harvest season.
Logos Press previously reported that, according to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, rescue workers and firefighters extinguished fires in dry vegetation dozens of times in July.
And low water levels, too
In addition, “red” and “yellow” hydrological hazard alerts are in effect in Moldova through July 28 due to low water levels in small rivers. Water levels in these rivers are 10–30% of normal.
