The New Prime Minister, “Nova Posta,” and Other Investors in Moldova’s Strategic Infrastructure

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan stated in parliament that he would like to bring the Ukrainian company “Nova Poshta” on board to operate at Markulești (Florești) Airport.

In this regard, following posts by opposition-leaning journalists on Facebook, a wide-ranging discussion has erupted over whether it is necessary to simultaneously “build bomb shelters for the area’s residents.”

Such comments, as I have noted in groups on this social network, “reflect the concerns that the potential expansion of cooperation with Ukrainian companies amid the ongoing military conflict raises among some segments of society.” It is worth noting that “Nova Poshta” terminals on Ukrainian territory have repeatedly come under attack from the Russian Federation because Russian authorities suspect the company of working on behalf of the Ukrainian armed forces.
