Each player on the Spanish national team will receive €755,000 before taxes in the event of a victory. This bonus was agreed upon back in March during a meeting between the team captains and RFEF leadership, led by President Rafael Lausan. This was reported by Cope radio journalist Miguel Ángel Díaz.
According to Euronews, in December the FIFA Council approved prize money totaling $50 million for the 2026 World Cup champion. By comparison, the winner of the 2022 tournament in Qatar—the Argentine national team—received $42 million.
Spain advanced to the final after defeating England 2–1. If the “Red Fury” wins the title, the players will receive 45% of the championship bonus—$22.5 million (about €20 million)—while the remainder will go to the federation.
If they lose in the final and finish in second place, the team’s prize money will total $33 million. According to an agreement with the federation, the players’ share in this case will drop to 40% of the total amount.
The 2026 World Cup has become the most generous in history in terms of prize money. The tournament’s total financial package was approved by the FIFA Council at $727 million—50% more than at the 2022 World Cup.
Of this amount, $655 million will be distributed among the 48 participating teams as prize money, and each national team also received an additional $1.5 million to prepare for the tournament.
In addition to $50 million for the champion and $33 million for the runner-up, the French national team, which finished in third place, earned $29 million. Teams that were eliminated in the group stage received $9 million each, those that reached the round of 32 received $11 million each, and those that advanced to the round of 16 received $15 million each.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino previously stated that the increase in the prize fund reflects the commercial growth of the tournament, which is being held for the first time with 48 teams and is being hosted by three countries—the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
