Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced this.
“President Trump has directed the U.S. Trade Representative to impose 25% tariffs on most imports from Brazil,” the secretary of state said on social media platform X.
He explained Trump’s decision by stating that Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and his government had negotiated in bad faith with the U.S.
Earlier, it was reported that the U.S. intends to impose tariffs of up to 100% on oil and gas purchases from Russia. China and India may also be subject to sanctions.
