He posted a message on the social media site Truth Social about this.
“The enriched uranium (nuclear dust!) will either be immediately transferred to the United States to be brought to the U.S. and destroyed, or better yet, in cooperation and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, it will be destroyed on site,” Trump wrote.
He explained that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) or “its equivalent” should oversee the process.
As Axios reported on Sunday, the US and Iran are nearing the signing of a memorandum on a 60-day ceasefire, during which the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened and the sides will hold talks on Tehran’s nuclear program.
The draft agreement also includes commitments by Tehran never to seek nuclear weapons, to negotiate a suspension of its nuclear program and to remove its stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
Later it became known that Iran had not agreed to transfer its highly enriched uranium stockpiles as part of the memorandum of understanding with the United States.
Al Arabiya sources reported that Iran expressed readiness to remove highly enriched uranium from its territory on condition that it would be transferred to China.
