The statement was posted on the NSG website. In it, the speaker of the autonomous region’s parliament expressed his willingness to hold working meetings and begin an open, constructive dialogue.

According to Valentin Gaidarji, the main purpose of such meetings is to present the priorities of the new leadership of the People’s Assembly, discuss the current socio-political situation in the region, and explore prospects for further interaction and cooperation.

Based on dialogue

The letters note that the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia is interested in developing a dialogue based on mutual respect, a constructive approach, and practical cooperation. Particular attention is paid to the need to build trust and seek new opportunities to promote the sustainable development of Gagauzia.

In addition to Moldova’s top leadership, the recipients of the appeal include the embassies of the United Kingdom, Germany, the EU, Turkey, the Russian Federation, Romania, the United States, Ukraine, France, and Sweden, as well as the OSCE Mission to Moldova

“The People’s Assembly of Gagauzia expresses its readiness for open and responsible cooperation with the state institutions of the Republic of Moldova, the diplomatic corps, and international partners in the interests of stability, constructive dialogue, and the further development of the autonomy,” the statement reads.

Earlier, Logos Press reported on the political and legal discrepancies between the positions of Chisinau and Comrat, which led to a protracted crisis surrounding the autonomy.

Valentin Gaidarzhi also revealed details of his statement and the position of the Gagauz People’s Assembly at a specially convened press conference in Chisinau. He separately addressed the Constitutional Court—which is scheduled to begin hearing the legal dispute between Chisinau and Comrat on July 7—with a proposal to postpone the hearing and give the parties a chance to find a mutually acceptable solution through dialogue.
