“During an official inspection, ANSA inspectors discovered a significant amount of soil clinging to the tubers, which violates Government Decree No. 929 on quality and marketing requirements for fresh fruits and vegetables. This regulation requires that produce be clean and free of foreign matter. The permissible amount of impurities is no more than 1% by weight for early potatoes and 2% for late potatoes, with soil adhering to the tubers permitted up to a maximum of 1%,” the agency’s statement reads.

The ANSA news agency reminds economic entities involved in the import of agri-food products that compliance with legal requirements regarding their quality and sales conditions is mandatory. Any deviation from the standards identified during official inspections will be sanctioned in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Moldova.
