Nikol Pashinyan
Armenian President Vaagn Khachaturyan signed the corresponding decree: “Pursuant to Part 1 of Article 149 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, I hereby appoint Nikol Pashinyan as Prime Minister.” This was reported by the Armenian news agency News.am.
Pashinyan’s candidacy was put forward by the “Civic Contract” party, the political force that formed the parliamentary majority in the National Assembly of Armenia.
As a reminder, on June 14, 2026, Armenia’s Central Election Commission announced the final results of the parliamentary elections. The “Civil Contract” party, led by Pashinyan, emerged victorious. The party received 49.74% of the vote—61 out of 101 seats in parliament. This gave it the right to form a government and pass laws on its own.
Following the “Civil Contract” party’s victory in the Armenian elections, Moldovan President Maia Sandu sent a congratulatory message to Nikol Pashinyan, in which she expressed hope for further strengthening of dialogue and cooperation between Moldova and Armenia.
