
25 years of investment, local production, modern agriculture and long-term economic impact
In its 25 years of activity, the company has invested more than €100 million in the development of operations in the Republic of Moldova, modernization of production, industrial infrastructure, European technologies and energy efficiency.
During this period, Südzucker Moldova has contributed more than 1.2 billion lei to public budgets, of which approximately 830 million lei represented contributions to the state budget, more than 210 million lei contributions to the state social insurance budget, more than 71 million lei to the mandatory health insurance funds and more than 99 million lei to local public authorities.
The impact created by the company goes beyond the industrial activity and is reflected in agriculture, transportation, logistics, energy and other related sectors. Over the last 25 years, Südzucker Moldova has paid over 6 billion lei to farmers for raw materials, contributing to the development of a modern and competitive agricultural sector.

Over the last 25 years:
- Over 200 million packets of sugar reached consumers’ tables;
- over 11 million tons of sugar beets have been processed;
- the Drochia factory has produced over 1.5 million tons of sugar;
- over 470 000 tons were exported;
- over 187 000 MWh of green energy were produced;
- around 3 000 people are directly and indirectly employed in the sugar industry.
The Drochia factory is one of the largest industrial employers in the region and contributes to local economic development through employment, services, logistics and economic activity generated in related sectors.
Südzucker Moldova provides about 400 direct jobs and the average salary in the company is more than 20% above the average of the Moldovan economy and about 40% higher than the average of the food industry.
The Domnița and Cinci Inimioare brands have become present in households all over the country, gaining the trust of consumers through consistent quality. More than 200 million packets of sugar produced in the Republic of Moldova have reached people’s tables, accompanying entire generations in their daily lives.
The company has also implemented one of the most important green energy projects in Moldova. Investments of more than €14 million in the Drochia biogas plant have contributed to the development of one of the largest green energy projects in the country, capable of producing around 8.5 million m³ of biogas annually.
